I feel like it’s been ages since I’ve posted anything in my blog. Travelling for the best part of November, then the whole Christmas/New Year adventures, throw in school holidays and repainting our living areas at home and bingo, it’s nearly the end of January!
I have managed to create some new work while the kids have been off school and have a group show opening on the 2nd of Feb. at the new Tap Gallery.(My first for the year)!
I’ve also created some gorgeous fabrics using my paintings and drawings and I’ll share a bit about the process and outcomes in the attached video.
I hope you find it inspiring!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,900 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 32 trips to carry that many people.

I know it’s been a while since I last posted on my blog. I haven’t been lazing on my laurels, I’ve actually been really busy entering art prizes, exhibitions, and The Balmain Art Fair! I’ve also been overseas twice in the last month, once to Bali and the second time to the South Pacific with various members of the family in tow. I promise I will write about and show images from both beautiful destinations, but for the moment I have recorded another video with more ideas and hopefully inspiration relating to the joy of drawing and it’s ability to ignite creativity and healing.

Here is a video of my creative space built at the end of November last year. After years of renting damp, dank studio spaces in dilapidated factories or constantly packing and unpacking materials in the home I share with my partner and three kids, I finally have my own creative space. It’s not huge, but it has changed my creative life for the better in so many ways. I hope you enjoy this video and are perhaps inspired to carve out your own creative space in your home or backyard shed or if you have the means to build.

I love to draw! I started drawing way before I was able to write and it’s still one of my favourite things to do. In this video I talk about why drawing is such a valuable tool to nurture creativity. I hope you enjoy it and as always,

I thought I’d try something a bit different and post a video, rather than writing my blog. I loved how immediate the creation of a video is, though I have to say, the upload took a ridiculous amount of time! As always I follow my usual mantra of being “perfectly Imperfect’ and all things considered, I think it turned out really well. Big thanks to Ben for overcoming those sneaky technical issues, that threaten to dampen (or tsunami) my enthusiasm!

And maybe give art journaling a try, you never know where it might lead!
Tired and grateful are the two words that best describe me at the moment. I’ve climbed a personal mountain. I set myself the goal of putting my insecurities aside to create a collection of work and show it. I hog tied and muzzled my internal critic and committed to the idea that being perfectly imperfect would be enough. I’ve learnt so much along the way. I’ve met kind, generous, talented people like Lynne Pearce at “That Framing Place” in Balmain and photographer Theresa at “Fine Art Imaging” I’ve been overwhelmed by the love and support from friends, family and total strangers who made time to come to the exhibition, share a glass of wine, their thoughts and their money to encourage and celebrate my efforts. I appreciate every kind word more than you will ever know and I’m excited to continue creating as I’ve got lots of plans in the works! Stay tuned!
